A volunteer mentor for every scholar, internship and job placement, language and coding workshops.
Free, volunteer-based
A scholarship lets a student stay in school; mentoring helps them see what to do afterwards. The Mentoring and Careers programme matches our scholars aged 14-24 with working professionals and older alumni.
Programme components
- One-to-one mentoring: at least two sessions a month and a goals review at year end
- Career workshops: CVs, interviews, choosing a university and applying for scholarships
- Language and digital skills: English conversation clubs, basic coding and office software
- Internships and placement: summer internships with our partners and first-job support for graduates
- Alumni network: an online community in which 3,100 graduates guide new scholars
Becoming a mentor
All a mentor needs is to give regular time and listen without judgement. Applicants receive a one-hour orientation, work with a mentoring guide and join a support meeting every term.
91% of scholars in the programme completed high school and 84% finished university within the planned time.
