Where Does Your Donation Go? The 2025 Income and Expenditure Breakdown

In 2025, 86.2% of 62.4 million TRY in donations went straight to programmes. Here is the item-by-item breakdown and the audit process.

Every donor asks the same first question: does the money I give really reach the person in need? In this article we explain our 2025 income and expenditure in plain language and with figures. The detailed tables and the independent audit report can be downloaded from the Transparency and Reports page.

Total income and overall split

Our donation income in 2025 was 62,400,000 TRY. Of this, 53,788,800 TRY (86.2%) went directly to programmes, 5,678,400 TRY (9.1%) to management and general expenses and 2,932,800 TRY (4.7%) to fundraising. Management costs consist of office rent, the salaries of a small accounting and legal team, the independent audit fee and insurance. Board members receive no pay at all.

The 53.8 million TRY that went to programmes

  • Scholarship Programme: 21,600,000 TRY (520 students, housing support included)
  • Food and Basic Needs: 12,300,000 TRY
  • School and Dormitory Support: 8,400,000 TRY
  • Water Wells and Infrastructure: 6,288,800 TRY (24 wells and infrastructure works)
  • Disaster and Emergency Relief: 3,700,000 TRY
  • Mentoring and Careers: 1,500,000 TRY

Why is there a fundraising cost?

Fundraising costs cover payment institution commissions, digital advertising, campaign videos and event organisation. Payment commissions alone make up about half of this item. We aim to lower this cost every year; in 2024 the share was 5.3%.

How are we audited?

Our accounts are reviewed each year by an independent audit firm, and the foundation's audit board also checks expenditure documents four times a year. A donation made to a particular campaign is spent only on that campaign; if the target is exceeded, the surplus moves to a similar project and the donor is informed.

Verify it yourself

You can confirm that your donation is in our records by entering your e-receipt number in the Receipt Lookup tool. For questions you can call us or review the audit reports in person at our office. Transparency is not a one-off statement but a responsibility renewed every year.

The story behind the numbers

The 86.2% figure is not a target in itself but a result. We keep our office in a modest building in Ankara, prepare promotional materials with volunteer designers and make field visits with regional representation teams wherever we can. We have made it a rule to answer every donor enquiry within two working days; in 2025, 1,940 emails and 2,300 phone calls were handled this way. Next year our aim is to bring the management cost share below 8.5% and to publish detailed campaign-level expenditure tables every quarter.
