Antakya Container City Children's Workshop

Weekly art, book and play workshops for 240 children in a post-earthquake container city.

Since the 2023 earthquakes, 240 children living in a container city in Antakya have had no enclosed space where they can play safely or read. The campaign converts two containers at the centre of the city into a children's workshop and runs it for a year.

Workshop programme

  • Five days a week, art, reading and science games for ages 6-14
  • Two volunteer coordinators trained in psychosocial support
  • A stationery set and a reading card for every child
  • A monthly family meeting and a parent support session

The budget is 360,000 TRY, covering the container conversion, materials, a year of operation and coordinator costs. Under a protocol with the local municipality, electricity and water are provided free.

Measuring impact

Each child's attendance is recorded and the children take part in a simple well-being survey every three months. The results are presented in summary form to donors and the local authority, without sharing the children's identities.

With your donation

  • 1,500 TRY supplies one child's materials for a year
  • 30,000 TRY covers all workshop costs for one month
