Mountain Villages Mobile Library Vehicle
A 4x4 library vehicle that will bring books and activities to 40 mountain villages.
In the high-altitude villages of Hakkâri and Şırnak, the nearest bookshop is 80 km away. The mobile library vehicle, with its collection of 3,500 books, will call at 40 village schools twice a month and offer children reading hours, storytelling events and author talks.
Project contents
- A closed-body 4x4 vehicle with fitted shelving
- 3,500 books: children's, youth and teacher resources
- A generator, projector and open-air screening equipment
- A driver-educator and two volunteer librarians
The total budget is 1,800,000 TRY, covering the vehicle, book purchases and first-year running costs. Village schools can recommend titles, and borrowing records are shared after each visit.
Timeline and follow-up
When 70% of the target is reached the vehicle is ordered; delivery and fitting take about four months. In the first season two visits a month are planned for each village and the visit calendar is published on this page.
